Union Worker Strike: Closes Germany’s Hamburg Port to Large Ships

BERLIN, Walk 22 (Reuters) - The Hamburg Port Power (HPA) has shut the port to enormous boats due to a strike reported by the Verdi association over compensation, it said on Wednesday.

"Because of the monstrous limitations not out of the ordinary from the reported advance notice strikes, the organization has chosen to hinder the Elbe for ships requiring pilotage from around 10 a.m. today until additional notification," a representative for HPA said.

From 5.30 p.m. (1630 GMT) onwards, such ships can never again leave the port in light of the fact that the groups of boats that welcome pilots on board holder ships are participating in the fights, the representative added.

Around 18 boats destined for Hamburg will be impacted by the move. The quantity of boats not ready to leave the port is more challenging to evaluate for strategic reasons.

Verdi intends to proceed with the dissent until Friday at 6 a.m. It has likewise approached laborers at Hamburg air terminal to leave as a feature of the public area wage debate. The fights, booked to most recent 24 hours, are regardless the night shift on Walk 22.
